Stairway to Heaven
We stumbled upon these ladders on FreeCycle (a website which people offer free stuff for collection) now I wasn’t fully sure what to expect as the description was pretty vague, so we took a gamble.
On first sight the ladders were a little worse for wear, covered in countless paint splashes and tied together with a bit of old string. But I knew exactly what transformation I had in mind for them.
I have stripped, primed and painted them which is always a bit tiresome (I hate waiting for paint to dry) but the gratification of knowing I’ve made them over, makes it worthwhile.
The moment I took them up to my craft room, I had this sudden urge to create something beautiful and to include some of my most favourite and treasured possessions.
So here we have the finished result.

It looks amazing Alice - great transformation. Please link it up next week on Ta-dah! Tuesday, it would be perfect. And if needed it's still practical as well as beautiful. I've seen a regular ladder hung on a wall and used as a book-shelf too - that also looks great x

this is literally my dream, alice! for so long i have wanted a ladder to hold some of my favourite pieces, yours is just amazing! such patience to sand and paint it too, it looks so lovely. xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant way to use an unloved old set of ladders - you must be so pleased with how your pretty things look stacked on them! :-) I filched a set from my the boy's Mum last year and they're just leant against the wall in our hallway in all their paint spattered glory. Ladders are beautiful!
