Crafty Heaven
My favourite gift by far was the stash of ribbons she gave me, which actually belonged to her Mum. Now a girl can never have too much ribbon and this lot will certainly come in handy in future craft projects.
I’ve always admired the art of mosaic, but I’ve never given it a go myself, so when I was lucky enough to win a kit in Victoria’s giveaway, this was my opportunity to try it out.

When the kit arrived, I was like a child on Christmas morning, I just couldn’t wait to open it up and get all the pieces out. I’m a little like a bull in a china shop when it comes to delicate craftwork, I have far too little patience and am useless when it comes to the fine details, but I’m pretty pleased with the finished result- albeit a little messy.
Some of the tiles are a little out of line, and I may have gone a little crazy with the grout, but part of me craves imperfection, where is the beauty in perfection? It sure has given me a bit of an incline to make my own mosaic, using old broken bits of pottery. I’ve already gathered a few bits together found at the allotment, and I think this could quite possibly be my next big project!
What have you been making lately?
p.s I’m linking up to TAH-DAH! Tuesday

I love the way the mosaic came out. If it would've been perfect it would have looked like all the others... this one has a Topsy turvy feel to it, love it!
ReplyDeleteThat's so lovely! I love it with the candle inside.
ReplyDeleteI've seriously not made anything in so long! I majorly need to get back into crafting. XO
I think it's really pretty, reminds me of sweets from the 80s - tutti fruittis?. I have loads of random mosaic pieces my husband's mum dug out of the loft at their house, yet to attempt anything though.

Oooh how lovely to have been gifted a little stash of pretties to create with! It's a great feeling to be 'stocked up'! The mosaic looks very good to me and I totally agree; a little imperfection gives character!

Wow I love what you've made. Mosaic is actually something i've never tried although I do love the idea of smashing a load of pretty things to make a new picture in the traditional mosaic kind of thing! My craftings been a bit on the back step with the bank holiday but i'm working on a cross stitch and making some more patchwork hoops.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same, I tend to have a couple of projects on the go at once, and I'm never neat enough! Think my next project might be some jewellery, although first I have to make some tiny paper bunting for my friend's birthday cake!
