Christmas Gifts
(It’s no secret books are always the way to my heart)
I finally have The Carrie Diaries, one I’ve been lusting after all year, and I also got Jacqueline Wilson’s latest The Longest Whale Song. Because I am forever enchanted by her storytelling.
I also recieved a beautiful children’s classic in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
A favourite of mine, Kirstie’s Homemade Home book to go alongside the series, filled with every craft a girl could want for.
From fiction to cookery, I have three new cookbooks, which is always going to make me a happy girl, lets be honest.
I am probably the last girly to jump on the Hummingbird bandwagon, I also was given a Sweet Treats book of delights.
My little infatuation with Sophie Dahl has been filled with her novel and cookbook...
Gifts from my Mum always have a tale behind them...
The thing I love about my Mum is that she knows my style exactly. She knows what I like and what I don’t. And the above is a perfect example of it.
It’s a lovely hand/arm warmer, complete with inside pockets for money, phone etc. This screams out for use at 2011 car boots and antique fairs.
She also sneakily managed to get me this Royal Doulton Christmas plate, from 1977. I say sneakily because I was with her the day we first saw it in the Charity Shop window. I was amazed by its pristine condition and thrilled with its original packaging but I had no money on me. My Mum went back the very next, and got it for me.
The Mr got me one of these...a Harajuku perfume from the Wicked Style range, and I said I wasn’t going to collect these ones! She is so cute...

Those books look fab, I really need some new reads so i'd love to hear what you think of them :) x
ReplyDeleteI love the Hummingbird Bakery cake book but I have a tip for you, check the hummingbird website because there were a few errors in the book which have been corrected online. The red velvet recipe tells you to double all the ingredients to make one large cake instead of cupcakes but the amounts of cocoa and food colouring have already been doubled for some reason

lovely Christmas goodies! p.s I'm glad I'm not the only mad animal lover x
ReplyDeleteoh dear, i just wrote a long comment and then my internet froze, darn it!
ReplyDeletethank-you for your lovely comment, i hope you had a wonderful christmas and happy new year! what a lovely present you recieved, sorry to hear that you won't see sheridan perform! :(
if it's any consolation i've heard that the girl who will be taking over is amazing as elle (at the moment she currently plays elle's best friend), but of course sheridan will always be the star and personality of the show. you can watch a few clips of her online if you haven't already, plus there is a west end cast recording cd and sheridan sounds simply amazing.
what date is your show for? could you possibly sell them and go and see sheridan before she leaves? though i think she leaves in the next week or so... and don't be silly, i'd be upset! even though i've seen it as many times as i have i'm still upset that she is leaving (though i have a feeling she will be filming another series of two pints soon which fills me with joy!)
even though she won't be there when you see it, you will be crying and laughing all the way through the show, it's amazing. so witty, funny and heartwarming.
i hope you are okay! xxx
Oooh, lots of lovely books. I have a soft spot for Sophie Dahl too (:
ReplyDeleteLovely presents! The Miss Dahl cookery book is one of my absolute favourites and I really like her novels too.
